The Beginning

Writer: Ends CyclingEnds Cycling

The ground that won my heart and set the trajectory of my life.

I still remember the first time I stepped onto the soil of a foreign land. The flurry of people going about their business in shops that looked more like stalls than stores, the air that smelled of body odor and onions, and the unfamiliar language being yelled at me by taxi drivers and tourist trappers. Every little detail of that trip is emblazoned on my mind; from visiting a widowed woman in a remote village to hugging orphans affected by Chernobyl. From the moment my feet hit the ground I was changed and my life has never been the same. That trip solidified in my brain what I had known in my heart for a long time: this was my calling, this was what I was created for.

Every moment of every day is filled with the potential for God to shape who we are and change the course of our lives. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says it best, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” I had no idea where God would take me from that moment my feet first hit the ground in Ukraine. I had no idea that I would be working with a ministry that rides on behalf of the youth of the world or that I would be co-directing a bike ride that benefits the youth of that first country I visited some 16 years ago. But, as Justin Hanneken (EC Executive Director) would say, "that’s how God rolls." He opens doors into places we never thought we would EVER go and he invites each of us into His story.

We, at Ends of the Earth Cycling, believe in the power of testimony. We know that sharing our stories not only allows us to process what God is doing in our lives, but it opens up a door to invite others into our story and into God’s story. We invite you to join us monthly as we bring stories of impact from around the globe and from our own backyard. Stories of what God has done through our bike rides, stories of how God is using our prayers to transform the world, and stories of how God is shaping us through the moments we give him to speak to us.

Welcome to the EC Blog: Stories of Impact. Let's see where God takes us!
