Lives Changed in Mexico - 2017

July 15 - 23, 2017, a team of 9 from the Mexico Short Term Project, flew to Puebla, Mexico and traveled to Mazatepec, Morelos, Mexico. We arrived safe and sound to a 17th century Hacienda, which would be the site of the Mision Sports Camp. (MSC)

On Sunday, July 16th, we were able to worship with close to 20 staff of MSC as well as share a message of encouragement with them as they prepared to receive campers. Even as we gathered, we were hopeful and praying for 30 campers to come that afternoon. God brought us 34!

Throughout the next 7 days, we saw God touch hearts. The theme was “Equipped For Battle” and the theme verse was 1 Timothy 6:12, "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses." We saw students come to Christ, get saved – we set apart about a dozen students – anointing them and praying for them for ministry. The campfire went until 2 a.m. with students testifying to what God had done in their lives.

One camper who we were blessed to get to know, Adrian, came to camp with a gang tattoo on his forearm, but was clearly still just a kid who wanted to have fun. Throughout the week we saw God work in Adrian’s heart in so many ways. We, as counselors, got to laugh and cry with Adrian as the Lord moved in this young man’s life. The last night, campers spent TWO hours giving testimonies of how God was drawing them closer to Him.

Adrian shared about how prior to coming to MSC, he had been involved in partying, drinking and drugs – a very unhealthy lifestyle. The first time he came to MSC, he gave his heart to Christ. This time, he continued to grow in his faith and walk with Christ. It was so powerful to hear! He was also a participant in our Mountain Bike Race and completed the course in 1-minute-flat, the fastest time of any camper. Praise God for Adrian and how God continues to work in his life.

Thank you for praying for this special project and join us in giving God all of the glory!
